What this document covers

These Guidelines explain how to use the consumerdisputes.org name, logo, and Accredited Business badge. They apply to:

  • Accredited Businesses displaying the badge under the limited license in Business Terms of Service Section 10
  • Anyone referring to consumerdisputes.org in journalism, criticism, commentary, or other contexts not requiring a license

If you have a question that isn't answered here, write to trademark@consumerdisputes.org before using.

Our marks

Wordmark: "consumerdisputes.org" Logo: consumerdisputes.org wordmark provided as SVG with light and dark variants Accredited Business badge: Accredited Business badge distinct from the company logo, distinguishable at small sizes

The marks are owned by Consumer Disputes LLC. We have applied for / registered the marks as follows: pending USPTO registration.

What Accredited Businesses may do with the badge

While your Accreditation Subscription is active and in good standing, you have a limited license to display the Accredited Business badge on:

  • Your business website
  • Your marketing materials (print and digital)
  • Your social-media profile pages and posts
  • Your vehicles and signage
  • Your business cards and stationery
  • Your email signatures
  • Your invoices and proposals

You may scale the badge to fit your design, provided you preserve the proportions, clearspace, and color requirements below.

Display requirements

File format

Use only the official badge file we provide you. Do not redraw, regenerate, or recreate the badge in any way. The file is delivered to your Business Account dashboard once Accreditation is active.

Proportions

  • Always preserve the original aspect ratio of the badge
  • Do not stretch, compress, skew, or rotate the badge

Minimum size

  • Digital: at least 80 pixels wide
  • Print: at least 0.75 inches wide

Below these sizes, the badge becomes illegible and must not be used.

Clearspace

Maintain a clear space around the badge equal to at least 1/4 of the badge's width. Do not place text, images, or design elements inside this clearspace.

Color

  • Use the badge in its original color exactly as provided
  • A monochrome variant (single color, white or black) is provided for use on busy or photographic backgrounds; you may use the monochrome variant where the original color does not have sufficient contrast
  • Do not recolor the badge to match your brand palette

Placement context

The badge should be displayed on backgrounds where it has clear contrast. Do not place the badge:

  • Over photographs that obscure it
  • On color fields that clash with the badge's colors
  • Adjacent to other rating or certification marks in a way that suggests they are equivalent
  • In a position that suggests we endorse a specific product or service offering rather than the Business overall

Hyperlink

When the badge is displayed online, link it to your Business profile page on consumerdisputes.org so consumers can verify your current Accreditation status. The link is provided in your Business Account dashboard.

What Accredited Businesses may not do

The license to display the badge does not allow you to:

  • Modify the badge's design, including text, color, shape, or any element
  • Use the badge in any way that suggests we endorse, recommend, certify, or guarantee a specific product, service, employee, transaction, or outcome
  • Use the badge in a way that implies we are part of, affiliated with, or controlled by your Business
  • Combine the badge with other marks, certifications, or seals in a unified composite that obscures any of them
  • Use the badge in connection with content that is false, misleading, defamatory, or otherwise prohibited by these Guidelines or our Terms of Service
  • Use the badge to suggest the Business's products or services are endorsed by us in a way that goes beyond what Accreditation actually represents
  • Sell, sublicense, or transfer the badge or the right to use it
  • Use the badge after your Accreditation Subscription expires, is canceled, or is terminated
  • Continue to use the badge if we have notified you that the license is revoked

If you violate any of these requirements, your right to use the badge ends immediately and we may pursue trademark, contract, and unfair-competition remedies in addition to terminating your Business Account.

When the license ends

The license to display the badge ends automatically when:

  • Your Accreditation Subscription is canceled, expires, or lapses for non-payment
  • Your Business Account is suspended or terminated for any reason
  • We revoke the license on notice (we will explain why)
  • These Guidelines are materially changed and you do not accept the changes within the notice period

When the license ends, you must:

  • Within 7 days: remove the badge from your website, social-media profile pictures, email signatures, and other digital surfaces under your direct control
  • Within 30 days: remove the badge from print materials in active circulation, vehicle wraps, signage, and other physical surfaces
  • Indefinitely: stop ordering or producing new materials that include the badge

We may inspect compliance with this section through public observation and through reasonable requests for confirmation. We may publicly clarify on your Business profile that you are no longer an Accredited Business.

How to refer to us in other contexts

Even without a license, anyone may refer to consumerdisputes.org in fair contexts:

  • Journalism, news reporting, criticism, and commentary — you may use our name and refer to our service to report on, criticize, or comment on us. You should not use the badge or logo as decoration; refer to us by name.
  • Comparative reference — you may say things like "we are listed on consumerdisputes.org" or "you can find reviews of us at consumerdisputes.org" without a license, provided the statement is accurate.
  • Linking to us — you may link to consumerdisputes.org or to a specific public page on our service. Use plain text or a generic "Visit consumerdisputes.org" — not the badge.

You should not:

  • Use our marks in domain names you register, social-media handles, or app names
  • Use our marks in product names, service names, or business names
  • Style your own brand to look like ours
  • Suggest we sponsor, endorse, or certify your content when we do not

Reporting infringement

If you see misuse of our marks — unauthorized badge display, false claims of Accreditation, deceptive imitation — please report it to trademark@consumerdisputes.org. We investigate every report.

Changes to these Guidelines

We may update these Guidelines. Material changes will be communicated to Accredited Businesses by email at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the badge after the effective date is acceptance.
